Why should my dog know the 'Down' command?

Down command is another foundation command every dog should know. The advantages of this command are many. Some are :

1. Can be effectively used to calm a very excited dog while greeting people. Especially small children and the elderly.

2. Can bring down the stress for Pet, Pet Parent and Vet during a vet or even grooming visits. 

3. Can be used to stop dogs from jumping up on couches, beds, kitchen counters or just about anything that needs be off limits for them.

4. Makes it easier for daily checking of the dog without the dog constantly moving or trying to run away.

5. Is a foundation to teach 'Down-Stay' and 'Roll Over'
